Edit and export the rewrite

This page shows you how to finish a rewrite by hand and take it out of PlainSpeak.

Edit by hand

Type straight into the Your rewrite panel. The scan on the Current copy tab updates a moment after you stop typing, and the tells stay highlighted in your text.

To find one kind of tell, select its chip in the scan panel. Only those stay highlighted, and the panel scrolls to the first one. Select the chip again to show them all.

Versions

Each rewrite is saved as a version, shown as v1, v2 and so on above the rewrite, with the model that wrote it. PlainSpeak keeps the last 12.

The compare bar

Above the rewrite, the compare bar shows what changed against your original:

ItemWhat it means
tellsWording tells in your original, then in the rewrite.
voiceWhether the style held. See How the score works.
factsFacts kept out of those in your original.
avgAverage words per sentence, before and after.
lengthHow much longer or shorter the rewrite is.
new wordingRecompose only: how much of the wording is new. When much is shared, try another model family.
fix touchedFix passes only: how much of the wording the fix changed.

Copy and download

  1. Choose Markdown to keep formatting such as headings, bold and bullets, or Plain text to strip it. Plain text turns bullets into a bullet character and a link into its text with the address in brackets.
  2. Select Copy.

To save the rewrite as a file, select .md, which downloads plainspeak- and the date. In Plain text the button reads .txt.

History

Select the clock at the top right to open History. It keeps your latest 200 rewrites, fewer if they are very long, with the original, the rewrite, the mode, the model and the scores.

The example from Load AI-slop sample is never saved to History.

Start a new piece

Select + at the top right. PlainSpeak asks first, then clears your text and its versions. History and settings are kept.
